CATHOLIC WOMEN’S LEAGUE SERVES UP HARVEST HOSPITALITY – The Bryson Catholic Women’s League (CWL) hosted its annual Harvest Breakfast on Sunday, October 19, in the dining hall of Immaculate Conception Church. The popular community event was well attended, with tables filled from 9:30 am until noon by diners of all ages.

Acting treasurer Betty Maloney explained that the breakfast is one of two major fundraisers organized by the CWL, along with the Valentine’s Breakfast. Proceeds help fund repairs to the church building, with remaining funds supporting service organizations in Bryson, Shawville, and Campbell’s Bay. “We’re a small but active group,” said Maloney, noting that of the roughly 26 members, about 15 are regularly involved.

Affiliated with the national CWL organization, the Bryson chapter also responds to international aid requests as needs arise.

Guests enjoyed generous portions of baked beans, hash browns, sausages, bacon, scrambled eggs, and pancakes served by CWL members. The morning offered both a hearty meal and a chance for neighbours to visit and support their parish. – Clifford Welsh
