CARDS FOR A CAUSE IN BRYSON

Published in the Pontiac Journal on April 9, 2025.

Euchre enthusiasts gathered on Sunday, April 6 in the basement of the Immaculate Conception Church in Bryson for the annual Share Lent card party hosted by the Catholic Women’s League (CWL).

The event is one of the CWL’s fundraisers in support of Share Lent, an annual initiative that aids impoverished rural communities across the Global South. Organized by Development and Peace – Caritas Canada, the campaign helps defend the rights to life, land, water, biodiversity, justice, and health.

Attendance was slightly lower than last year, with just 11 players seated when the event began at 1:00 pm. For an entry fee of $5 per person, participants enjoyed homemade treats, tea, coffee, and a chance to win a cash door prize. A customary 50/50 draw was also held. – Clifford Welsh
