PONTIAC – Liberal André Fortin has secured a fourth term as Pontiac’s Member of the National Assembly following Monday’s Quebec provincial election.
Fortin was declared elected with 60.8%, defeating Osmar Llanos Martinez, who received 11.7%, according to preliminary results from Élections Québec.
The victory sends Fortin back to the National Assembly after a campaign focused heavily on health care, the regional economy and challenges associated with Pontiac’s proximity to Ontario.
Speaking to supporters at on Monday night, Fortin thanked Pontiac voters for once again placing their confidence in him.
During the campaign, Fortin called for stronger measures to recruit and retain health-care workers, greater support for businesses affected by U.S. tariffs and improved access to education and public services.
Fortin faced Mariana Mefleh of the Coalition Avenir Québec, Marcela Cazas of the Parti Québécois, William Twolan of the Canadian Party of Quebec, Bianca Baldo of Québec solidaire and Osmar Llanos Martinez of the Conservative Party of Quebec.
