SHAWVILLE – Months of hard work paid off for the Pontiac Community Players as they brought the Halfway There production to life before packed audiences at Pontiac High School on January 30, 31 and February 1. The five-member cast delivered performances
so natural it was as if they were born to play the roles created by one of Canada’s most prolific playwrights, Norm Foster.
The action unfolds over the course of a month in a small restaurant in Stewiacke,
Nova Scotia, where four women gather each day for coffee and conversation.
Love, loss, frustrations and life-changing decisions are all on the table, but the humour woven throughout the dialogue had audiences laughing throughout. The dynamic shifts with the arrival of Sean (Matt Lafleur), a young doctor from Toronto who takes a temporary position at the local clinic, hoping to escape city life after a painful breakup.
The production marked Lafleur’s stage debut with the Pontiac Community Players. “Outside of drama class in high school, this was my first time on stage! The experience was amazing—the cast and crew felt like family by the end of it. Everyone was supportive and welcoming, which just added to the experience,” he said. “I’m hoping to get back up there in the future.”
Congratulations to the cast and crew for going all the way with Halfway There.
