More than 40 children gathered at Maurice Beauregard Memorial Park on May 31 for a block party organized by the new Parent Hive committee. The event featured free face painting, bike decorating, and a bike parade.
Based in Campbellās Bay, Parent Hive is a volunteer group focused on hosting family-friendly events. āWe were tired of always driving to other towns,ā said organizer Chantelle Shea. āWe wanted something right here, for all familiesāincluding those who canāt travel.ā
The group received support from the Municipality of Campbellās Bay and Loisir Sport Outaouais. Food kiosks run by the Lions and 4H clubs offered lunch and ice cream. Local businesses donated items for a prize draw.
This summer, Parent Hive will run the ballpark canteen during tournaments, with proceeds going toward community initiatives. One upcoming project is a communication board at the park to help children with language challenges express themselves.
The next event is a pancake breakfast at the RA centre on Valentineās Day 2026. Follow Parent Hive on Facebook for updates. – Dale Shutt
