MUNICIPALITY OF PONTIAC – Municipal flags have recently been flown at half-mast in the Municipality of Pontiac to honour former mayor Bruce Campbell who passed away at home on May 16 after battling a lingering illness.

Campbell served as a councillor for the Municipality of Pontiac before he was elected mayor for two terms from 1998 to 2005, passing his seat as councillor to current mayor Roger Larose. During his tenure, Campbell firmly advocated that the Municipality of Pontiac would be better served by belonging to the MRC Pontiac rather than the MRC-des-Collines.

Campbell was well known for his love of the Pontiac and the community he lived in. Dubbed a generous and kind “people person” by those who knew him, Campbell will be missed by many friends and acquaintances as well as family members. He loved fishing, hunting, boating, camping and cooking, especially with fresh vegetables he grew in his garden.

At Campbell’s request, no memorial service will be held, and instead, he will be remembered for his “carry on and enjoy” mantra.
