Regional Association of West Quebecers hosts quiz night in Shawville

The Regional Association of West Quebecers (RAWQ) held its second annual quiz night on Saturday, February 22, at the Little Red Wagon Winery in Shawville. The event drew a full house as 11 teams of six gathered for an evening of friendly competition, fun, and laughter, accompanied by snacks and wine from the bar.
RAWQ is a non-profit, non-governmental organization dedicated to supporting the interests of the English-speaking community of West Quebec. This year marked the first time the quiz night was held in the Pontiac.
Trivia Master Gordon Smith kept the event lively, explaining the rules and announcing questions for participants to discuss at their tables. Background music played as teams wrote down their best guesses before moving on to the next question. Categories included General Knowledge, Entertainment, Music, Sports, and a second category of General Knowledge.
Live music was provided by the dynamic duo of Andrew Mah on guitar and vocals and Nikki B. on violin and fiddle, adding to the evening’s entertainment. The event also featured draws for various prizes.
The winning team at Table 3, consisting of Chad Bean, Dahlia McKrae, Aurelian Brazdau, Jayme Cheal, and Jeanne and Eloise Nivischiuk, scored 53 points and went home with a case of local beer donated by Brauwerk Hoffman. One observer jokingly noted that the team’s common trait was a lack of gray hair, hinting at youthful advantage.
RAWQ Program Director Alina Holmes closed the evening by thanking everyone who attended and expressing appreciation to the Little Red Wagon Winery for hosting the event. She also highlighted upcoming events aimed at keeping Pontiac residents informed and engaged.
