In a press release issued last week, the Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux de l’Outaouais announced the return of mandatory masking to hospitals, CLSCs, long-term care facilities and rehabilitation centres, effective October 10. Procedural masks must be worn at all times and in all areas of the above-mentioned facilities.
“The priority of the CISSS de l’Outaouais is to ensure the safety of its most vulnerable users, and of all the healthcare staff who work tirelessly for their well-being” the press release read.
The announcement came following a notable increase in respiratory viruses in the region. The CISSSO is asking anyone experiencing respiratory infection to postpone visits to loved ones in hospital or long-term care facilities. For those seeking treatment, the CISSSO urges to notify a member of staff if experiencing symptoms. Visitors and patients are also asked to carry out hand hygiene upon entering and leaving facilities, and after contact with a patient.
