ART MEETS NATURE AT CAFÉ 349

Published in the Pontiac Journal on April 9, 2025.

Café 349 in Shawville was the setting for the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society – Ottawa Valley chapter (CPAWS-OV) exhibition opening on Saturday, April 5. The show featured work by artists who participated in the DRAW (Dumoine River Art for Wilderness) retreat.

Fibre artist Kathy Lajeunesse spoke enthusiastically about her experience at last year’s retreat and said she hopes to return this year. “What could be better than being in nature, creating art and supporting conservation!” she said.

This year’s retreat will take place from July 29 to August 1. CPAWS provides meals and organizes transport from Rapides-des-Joachims to the campsite. Interested artists have until June 1 to apply. – Deborah Powell
