FALL FEST CELEBRATES JUBILEE YEAR

The annual “Fall Fest” at the Church of Faith, Praise, and Prayer in Campbell’s Bay celebrated its Jubilee (50) year from September 27 to 29. “The church was established in the Pontiac to help heal the divisiveness in the community and bring people freely together, regardless of faith, language or economic status,” said lead pastor Sharon Rivest, who has been a pastor at the church since its inception.

The three-day celebration included services, speakers, and activities for the children. Pastors and church members from around the world, including Nigeria, Ivory Coast, British Columbia, and New York, spoke to the congregation. While the adults listened to special speakers, the older children played basketball in the gym at St. John’s school and younger children played outside on the church grounds.

The Church has ministries in places like Nigeria, Uganda, and Haiti, where it works with other churches and community organizations to assist in education programs, orphanages, and community improvement programs. In the Pontiac, the Church also works with local community organizations to help new immigrants, homeless people, and youth.

“We come together and welcome all people. It’s about the simple things. We’re here to follow the example of Jesus and practice what He said; to be that light and difference in the communities we work with, here in Pontiac and around the world,” said Jean-Claude Rivest, youth pastor. – Dale Shutt
