Norway Bay and Bristol Historical Society summer kick-off

BRISTOL – The Norway Bay and Bristol Historical Society (NBBHS) held their summer kick-off meeting, June 26, at the Jack Graham Community Centre.
Plans were made for the annual coffee party also to be held at the Centre on July 31. Emphasis will once again be on making people aware of the local history binders that the society has compiled along with the individual home/cottage binders that families have contributed historical content to over the years. Nancy-Dale Conroy (author of “From the Derry to the Pontiac”) will give a short talk about area history. Funding for refreshments for the coffee party will be provided from the NBBHS share of the New Horizons federal grant.
There are also plans underway to work towards digitizing the historical information gathered over the years and to develop a website in association with the Pontiac Archives. Member Barb Mahaffy is working on a guidebook for a walking tour of Norway Bay and Bristol heritage sites.
