MRC PONTIAC – The MRC announced the hiring of a new strategic communications advisor at a special meeting of the Council of Mayors, August 24. Francis Beausoleil, of La Pêche, will take on the role September 11, replacing former advisor, Colleen Jones.

Beausoleil has a background in politics and communications and previously worked as an executive assistant and office director for former Pontiac MP Will Amos. He most recently worked as a special assistant to current MP Sophie Chatel. Beausoleil is a La Pêche municipal councillor, currently serving his second term.

Jones began in January 2020 and handled MRC communications throughout the COVID pandemic. Warden Jane Toller spoke highly of Jones’ skills: “Colleen, you’ve been an incredible communications person. You took us all through COVID with Facebook Lives; no matter where we had to meet, you had us rigged up…” Jones received a standing ovation from council. After thanking the mayors, Jones’ spoke of some of the accomplishments she’s proud of, including updating the MRC’s brand and work on a new website.

Jones will remain at the MRC for a brief period to train Beausoleil prior to departing.
