It has recently come to my attention that one of the greatest natural sites along the Upper Ottawa River – known locally as ‘The Point’ in Davidson – is for sale. Here’s an opportunity to make this land open to the public.
Both parcels of land comprising ‘The Point’ are currently for sale, creating an opportunity for the region to advance eco-tourism mandates. Allowing this wondrous property to become gated-off for a mansion would be a terrible mistake. The MRC, which is looking to promote eco-tourism, would be well advised to look into this as a great investment. Ball diamonds are nice, but retaining public access to amazing waterfront should be a priority as we look to the future.
