MUNICIPALITY OF PONTIAC – Seven residents attended the monthly council meeting on August 8, 2023 at the Luskville community centre. Jean Côté asked when work on ch Murray and rue de Clarendon would start. Mayor Roger Larose replied, “Not this year.”
Administration
Expenses of $27,941 for August were accepted. The Acting Director General is authorized to sell all the buildings in the municipality for which property taxes haven’t been paid, through the MRC des Collines auction. The municipality will bid on any property up to the amount owed. Council renewed its annual support for TransCollines (public transit along route 148) with a contribution of $70,362. The MRC Pontiac contributes $133,739, the Ministry of Transport $191,277 and users $22,000. Claudine Giroux was hired as Communications Officer. Council supported Mr Chugg, the owner of Dépanneur Luskville in his request to Hydro Québec to supply 3-phase electrical service so that he can install charging stations for EVs.
Public works
Bylaw 8-23 on “light maintenance on private roads open to the public by tolerance” was adopted. This is the summer equivalent of the snow clearing bylaw (9-22) passed last year, and covers re-surfacing roads, re-profiling ditches, pruning trees and mowing shoulders. From August 14, the municipality will be collecting household waste and recycling, as the outside contract has ended. It was noted, “There may be a learning curve, so please be patient.” Services Sanitaires, Richard Lanthier, will sell the 22 existing commercial containers for garbage and recycling to the municipality for $25,000 plus tax.
Katrina Dubeau and Andrée Soucie are hired as day labourers and Michel Larivière is hired as a truck driver.
Calls for tenders for snow removal for “sector C” and Quyon sidewalks were authorized.
Fire department
Three radios will be bought from Groupe CLR Excel Radio for $3,849 plus tax.
A qualified firefighter is appointed as one of the Fire Captains.
Other
Anita Trudeau’s offer to wax the floors of the Luskville and Quyon community centres for $7,600 plus tax, was accepted as the lowest compliant offer. Councillor Lacasse voted against.
Sports Cyclistes Outaouais asked and received permission to use municipal roads for their cycling event on August 20.
Council supports Claude Chartrand’s request to the CPTAQ for “alienation and subdivision” of 3124 route 148. No change from farm usage is intended. This is 17.7 ha on the north side of route 148 between Gibson and Pilon.
