Pontiac council report: SPCA deal, talent show, and public works praise

LUSKVILLE – The Municipality of Pontiac’s monthly council meeting was held January 21 at the Luskville Community Centre. Seven residents attended.

Q&A Period
The issue of a rent subsidy application was raised again, and council advised the attendee that they are still reviewing the matter. A request for a minor variance at 79 Desjardins was approved. Katie Roberts, from Groupe Action Jeunesse (GAJ), inquired about further support from the municipality, which council assured is being followed up on.

The GAJ is also planning another talent show on February 28, 2025. Based on the success of the last event, attendees are encouraged to arrive early as the hall fills up quickly.

Administration
Council passed a resolution to hire Stephanie Dubé, CPA/CGA, to assist with municipal accounting services for a total of 80 hours. The 2022 financial statements have also been submitted to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing (MAMH).

A renewal of the agreement with the SPCA was approved, and a mediation agreement with the Quyon Community Centre was reached. Further updates on the latter are forthcoming.

Public Works
The purchase of a mobile office building and repairs to the Quyon Municipal Garage were discussed.

Urban Planning
A minor variance was approved for 79 Chemin Desjardins. Subdivision requests for 4 and 22 Cedarvale, as well as 1161 and 1165 Chemin de la Pointe Indienne, were also approved.
