POKER RUN SUPPORTS CHAPEAU REGIONALE GALLERIE

The Allumette Island Tourism Committee and Pontiac Quad Club hosted a poker run, May 25 starting at Waltham Station, with 68 entries. The $400 in proceeds went to the Chapeau Regional Gallerie for ongoing events.

Volunteers from the Tourism Committee, Chapeau Agricultural Society, Pontiac Genealogical Society, Chapeau Regionale Gallerie and others assisted with registration and handing out cards. The route finished at Hotel Pontiac where participants received their final card and claimed their prizes.

Neil Maloney won first place with a straight ($500) Sylvie Lavigne won second with a straight ($300) and Peggy O’Brien third with 3 Jacks ($200). Many riders received a prize thanks to the support of local businesses from both sides of the Ottawa River. – Peter L. Smith
