HOME RUNS FOR MOE: TOURNAMENT HONOURS LEGACY

Published in the Pontiac Journal on June 4, 2025.

Despite some rain, community spirit shone through at the third annual Maurice Beauregard Memorial 3-pitch tournament, held May 23–25 at the RA grounds in Campbell’s Bay. Fourteen teams competed in recreational and open divisions, with a horseshoe tournament adding to the fun.

The Corriveau family team claimed the recreation division title, while Fully Loaded won the open division. James Ostrom and Chris Sauriol were horseshoe champions.

The tournament raised $23,468 before expenses. Proceeds will fund improvements to Maurice Beauregard Park and three $500 bursaries for graduates from each of the Pontiac’s high schools. The Maurice Beauregard Community and Leadership Award recognizes students who show leadership and dedication to student life.

Organized by Beauregard’s wife, Kelly McMahon, with help from friends and volunteers,
the event was a tribute to his legacy. “Many memories were made, and it was heartwarming to hear all the stories of Moe,” said McMahon. “And as always,
Moe’s cocktail was a hit!”

Beauregard, a former mayor, firefighter, and community advocate, died of cancer
in 2022 at age 43.
