ONSLOW FAIR BRINGS FUN AND COMMUNITY SPIRIT

Published in the Pontiac Journal on June 4, 2025.

Storm clouds didn’t stop the fun at Onslow School’s annual Spring Fair on May 29. Organized by the Home and School Committee, the event brought students, families,
and community members together for an afternoon of food, games, and laughter.

The Quyon Lions Club served BBQ favourites, while the Shawville 4-H Club gave kids
a chance to pet sheep and a fluffy rabbit. Children lined up for face painting, where
Stacy and Madison transformed faces into butterflies, tigers, and superheroes.

The Pontiac Fire Department let kids explore a fire truck and try on firefighter gear.
The biggest crowd-pleaser was the dunk tank, where students eagerly lined up to
dunk Principal Mrs. Nugent—who took each splash with a smile.

Families enjoyed activities and yard games. Community organizations, including Connexions Resource Centre and the Western Quebec Literacy Council, were on-site, handing out free books and sharing resources to encourage literacy.

A sudden downpour brought the event to an early close, but the spirit of the day
remained. This year’s fair was hailed as a resounding success by organizers and
attendees alike. – Cheryl Dolan
