SHAWVILLE – The Town Hall was the scene of a planning meeting on Tuesday evening, January 31, part of an ongoing series of community gatherings to plan the Shawville 150-year anniversary celebrations. Several events have been confirmed: February 11 will be a winter carnival, with three locations to choose from: the curling club will have activities and free hot dogs, the Shawville District Recreation Association will offer a hill for sliding, and the arena will have a snow castle competition and a public skate from 3 to 6 pm.  As well, St Patrick’s Day will be celebrated on Saturday evening, March 18, at the Handicraft building on the Shawville Fairgrounds where an Irish supper will be served.

150th logo contest

The town is looking for a special logo to mark the 150th celebrations. The deadline to submit a logo for consideration is February 18. The next planning session will be February 21 at 7p.m., again at the Town Hall.
